According to special announcement · 055 Tuesday, 22 November at 09:00 a.m. HLC, IDEAM announces a warning message on the development of tropical storm OTTO in the area of influence of the Archipelago of San Andres and Old Providence. It continues to strengthen; it is possible that in the next few hours it turned into a hurricane. Approximately 361kms and 401 kms from Old Providence, it has slowed down 986 milibars with maximum sustained winds of 60 knots reaching gust of increased intensity. The tropical storm will continue moving slowly to the west.
Therefore, the Governor of the department, Ronald Housni Jaller together with departmental council members is taking preventive measures for the island of San Andres.
For this purpose, the following restrictions are announced:
• Restrict the use of motorcycles, golf carts, Mule vehicles, Bader and similar from 23 November at 2:00 p.m.
• The Ministry of Transport announced that air operation will be restricted Wednesday, 23 November in the evening hours.
• Restrict the use of sports scenarios.
• Lower slewing cranes.
• It is suggested that enterprises and businesses work until tomorrow at noon for inhabitants to be out on the streets, only if necessary.
• Beaches will be closed from 23 November in order to safeguard physical integrity of tourist and residents. Citizens are requested to remain in their places (homes, hotels, native lodgings, tourist accommodations.)
• Communities are requested -in first instance-, to move with relatives. Otherwise, new temporary shelters were added after verifications carried out by council members.
