The Escuela de Formación Artística Musical Sandino Manuel Ellis, conducted its second artistic exhibition in the department, at the Departmental Government auditorium on Monday, 28 November.
Music was the main course of the evening. Children and young performers showed their talent and love for music. The project has been carried out since the beginning of the year and is supported by the Departmental Secretariat of Culture.
“Twenty-two teachers are part of this dream which seeks to implement the practice of cultural activities honoring and preserving our roots. The Ministry of Culture has been a fundamental ally to achieve the progress of this school which began with about sixty students and today, has more than three hundred” said Federico Lever, Departmental Secretary of Culture.

Winds of feasts and joy are blowing in the islands! As is customary every year, the Archipelago celebrates its Patronal Feasts on 30 November, in honor of the saint that bears its name: San Andres. Governor Ronald Housni called on the community to enjoy this celebration in peace and harmony.
The official launch of the 2016 Patronal Feasts will take place on Monday, 28 November at the Government auditorium where Miss Islas’ queen candidates, special guests and sponsors who will share details with the press on programming and organization for such a special event for islanders.
As a result of measures adopted by Governor Ronald Housni to the National Disaster Management Unit, the insular department will have the first Logistics Humanitarian Center, for the service of the islands community.
As announced by Colonel Pedro Antonio Segura of the UNGRD. “I am very pleased to be able to pass on this good news to the community of San Andres and Old Providence. Let us remember that last week materials, equipment and aids arrived to counteract any type of emergency or contingency that may arise in the department. This action is considered the first in the Center”.
According to special announcement · 055 Tuesday, 22 November at 09:00 a.m. HLC, IDEAM announces a warning message on the development of tropical storm OTTO in the area of influence of the Archipelago of San Andres and Old Providence. It continues to strengthen; it is possible that in the next few hours it turned into a hurricane. Approximately 361kms and 401 kms from Old Providence, it has slowed down 986 milibars with maximum sustained winds of 60 knots reaching gust of increased intensity. The tropical storm will continue moving slowly to the west.
Therefore, the Governor of the department, Ronald Housni Jaller together with departmental council members is taking preventive measures for the island of San Andres.
For this purpose, the following restrictions are announced:
• Restrict the use of motorcycles, golf carts, Mule vehicles, Bader and similar from 23 November at 2:00 p.m.
• The Ministry of Transport announced that air operation will be restricted Wednesday, 23 November in the evening hours.
According to special announcement · 051 Monday, 21 November at 13:30 HLC, IDEAM announces a warning message on the development of tropical storm OTTO in the area of influence of the Archipelago of San Andres and Old Providence approximately 285 kms southeast. According to information, it is possible that in the next 48 hours, winds may increase, during the same period and turn into a hurricane. Tropical storm will continue an east-southwest path.
Therefore, the Governor of the Department, Ronald Housni Jaller, together with departmental council members is taking preventive measures for the island of San Andres. Communities of first instance are asked to move with relatives. Otherwise, new temporary shelters were added after verifications carried out by council members.

Short, medium and long-term measures were announced by Governor Ronald Housni Jaller to attend damages due to rainy season these days in the island.
The governor lamented the situation of some families affected and calls on citizens to abstain from throwing garbage on the streets and channels because this contributes to rain water damming.
Governor said that firefighters offered immediate attention at sectors where flood were identified, using all available resources to minimize the damage.
